Saying NO to Ramadhan Buffet

on Tuesday, July 2, 2013

Buka puasa was not supposed to be 1) overly celebrated with 2) over pricey foods which in the end you will either 3) bloated your stomach or 4) wasted a good deal of uneaten foods.

Ramadhan buffet is one of the thing shouldn't be allowed to be a tradition. Halal or not, berbuka puasa with free flow of over price foods just not how we should buka puasa. It was not the teaching of our beloved Prophet, Muhammad s.a.w. We already have too many of these unnecessary tradition. It’s sad that things define us as a Muslim such as solat n puasa is becoming merely a customary.

Ramadhan supposed to be fulfilling with amal and not filling our stomach with loads of food, even if we are the typical Malaysians. I'm not ashamed to acknowledge that I never missed the Ramadhan buffet in the recent years be it from my pocket or others. Yes, I’m one of typical Malaysians who love foods.

So, before you spend your hard earned monies or daddy's allowances on those pricey foods following your heart desire, think! Imagine those children who have nothing to eat, our brother and sister in Palestine or Syira, or just think about Ramadhan. What do we really know about it, apart from thinking what and where to buka puasa.

This is not a call for boycotting those hotelier or restaurant owners. It’s a duty of a Muslim to another Muslim.

Have a fulfilling Ramadhan, insyaAllah.
